Iran: General Health Risks

Malaria

Malaria is transmitted by the night-time - dusk to dawn - biting female Anopheles mosquito.

Risk is present in rural areas of the following southeastern provinces: Hormozgan, the tropical part of Kerman, and the southern part of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Risk is present in the country; areas of risk are specified:

High risk months for Malaria are: March to November

Incidence of Plasmodium falciparum Malaria: 7%

Areas with drug resistant Malaria:

Suppressive medication is not recommended.
