Tajikistan: General Health Risks

Malaria

Malaria is transmitted by the night-time - dusk to dawn - biting female Anopheles mosquito.

Risk is present in the southern province of Khatlon bordering Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, the central division of Dushanbe, the southwestern autonomous province of Gorno-Badakhshan bordering Afghanistan, and the northern province of Sughd. 

Risk is absent in most of the country, risk exists only in specified areas.

High risk months for Malaria are: June to October

Incidence of Plasmodium falciparum Malaria: 10%

Areas with drug resistant Malaria:

Suppressive medication is not recommended.
